What Makes Our Teen Therapy Different?

At the Child Therapy Center of Los Angeles, we aim to create real change for your teen and family. We focus on building a deeper connection, rather than just checking a box or having simple discussions.

Connection
Comes First

A teen who trusts their therapist thrives in therapy, which is why we prioritize relationships. Our therapists are chosen for both their clinical expertise and their unique ability to connect with teens—earning them the nickname "teen whisperers."

You’re Not Alone. Hear From
Parents Who’ve Been         There

“Really helpful and knowledgeable...”

Brege was incredible. Our son wanted to end therapy, and Brege encouraged us to let him. I have recommended Brege to a few friends, she was really helpful and knowledgeable.

“made us all better for it...”

“We had a great experience with Brege, and she was a great fit for our son and family. In fact things got so good that we all decided it was time for a break and would be in touch if/when the need arises in the future. She helped us through a very difficult time and made us all better for it. We are huge fans and recommend her highly.”

“turned out to be the perfect fit!...”

“It took months for us to find the right therapist for our daughter. We’d almost given up when we found Starlite. She turned out to be the perfect fit! She is kind, empathetic, trustworthy, and relatable. She’s gotten us through some rough patches with grace. Starlite is a gem; we are so grateful for her!”

“meets the kids where they are...”

“We had tried other therapists for our son, but they didn’t connect. With Kendra, she took the time to connect with us and my son. She meets the kids where they are, and then figures out the right tools or strategies to help them.”

“highest quality and most lovely therapists...”

“I feel so thankful for our family's experience here. We were in good hands from the moment we walked through their door. The highest quality and most lovely therapists.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the sessions?
Sessions typically last 50 minutes. If more time is needed, your therapist may recommend extending to 90 minutes.
How frequent are the sessions?
Weekly sessions are required, especially in the beginning. This consistent rhythm builds trust, maintains momentum, and leads to better long-term outcomes.
How long does therapy last?
It varies. After your initial assessment, your therapist will provide a personalized estimate. Duration depends on your child’s symptoms, family dynamics, and how they respond to treatment.
How is my child’s therapist selected?
After your initial consultation with our Care Coordinator, we thoughtfully match your child with a therapist based on their needs, personality, and your scheduling preferences.
When is the right time to start therapy?
Every child can benefit from having a safe space to explore their emotions and build confidence. Research shows that early support leads to better outcomes, helping children develop emotional awareness and coping skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
What age is appropriate to start therapy?
We specialize in therapy for children and teens ages 2–18. Our methods are tailored to each child’s developmental stage, from playful, engaging sessions for young kids to more nuanced support for teens.
How do you include parents in the process?
We start with a 90-minute parent meeting to understand your goals and concerns. Then, we offer regular check-ins (1–3 times/month) to keep you involved and equipped with tools to support progress at home and school.
Do you take insurance?
We do not accept insurance directly, but you can use it for out-of-network benefits. You'll receive a monthly Superbill via email to forward to your insurer for reimbursement. This document includes the necessary details for your insurance company. Contact your provider for more information.
I’m hesitant about therapy. Will it work?
It’s normal to feel hesitant. We encourage open conversations about your concerns. Our modern, root-cause approach often feels refreshingly different from traditional therapy, and we’ll guide you every step of the way.
Do you provide assessments?
Yes! We have clinicians who can provide a range of developmental assessments. Please speak to our client coordinator for more information at (424) 268-2762.
